Offering the indigenous spiritual wisdom of Tibet on pressing challenges to the earth's environment. An unprecedented event between the peoples and cultures of Tibet and the United States is on the horizon: The Medium of Tibet’s Chief State Oracle, Venerable Thupten Ngodup (“Nechung Kuten”), with the blessings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and with special permission from the Tibetan Government in Exile's Office of Religious and Cultural Affairs, has recently announced his first public visit to the United States this summer to offer insights and directions on individual responsibility in the world.
Traveling from Nechung Monastary in Dharamsala, the foothills of the Himalayas—“the rooftop of the world”—Nechung Kuten will discuss and exchange ideas on the critical issues of our times, delivering lectures and conducting open dialogues with audiences across the US from June 15 to August 8, 2007.
The threefold purpose of this visit is to:
Offer the indigenous spiritual wisdom of Tibet on many pressing challenges to the earth, its peoples, and our collective well-being, including global warming.
Fund the building of Deyang Monastery, which is closely associated with the lineage of the Nechung Oracle and Nechung Monastery. The Tibetan culture and religion are severely threatened in Tibet and must be maintained outside that region for its survival. Nechung Kuten is seeking financial support to build a Monastery in Southern India that will enrich and increase the potential of the invaluable lineage of Tibet's Chief State Oracle. The Monastery will be consecrated in January, 2008, with the blessing of H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama. Learn more about Deyang Monastery...
Offer "Long Life" Initiations and Blessings as well as celebrate and provide support for the Tibetan culture, the Tibetan language and other aspects of the culture, including the promotion of compassion and peace. [ more information ]
About Tibet's State Oracle
"Nechung" refers to the Dharma Protector and the Chief Tibetan Oracle, as well as the monastery. Tibet's State Oracle, Dorje Drakden (“Nechung”), is the chief protector for Tibet, its government, and people. The Oracle's energy enhances the positive aspects of human activity in the world, while helping overcome obstacles and the forces of negativity. It was on the advice and assistance of the Nechung Oraclethat H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama accomplished a safe passage out of Tibet in 1959. The State Oracle is often consulted on significant matters by H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Government, and High Lamas.
Venerable Thupten Ngodup (“Nechung Kuten”) , the Medium of Tibet's State Oracle, serves as a cabinet-level member of the Tibetan Government in Exile. The Nechung Medium has not visited the United States for almost a decade. His duties and schedule as the Medium for the State Oracle needs to correspond with H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama’s itinerary and other occasions as deemed necessary by Nechung Monastery and the Tibetan Government. He has served in this capacity for the last twenty years. This is a small window of time that we have the good fortune to be able to see him. It is a rare occasion to meet such an individual who has dedicated his life for the benefit of the world and others.
How do I sponsor this tour? There are a variety of ways to sponsor and contribute financially to the Deyang Monastery. National and Local Sponsors will receive recognition on printed materials and local media pieces prior to the visit of the Nechung Medium. [ more information ]
